Our Workforce and Systems Resilience theme addresses the growing pressures facing health and care services.

We research how to build a sustainable, supported workforce and more resilient systems that can respond to rising demand and changing needs.

This includes developing and evaluating new workforce models, exploring role redesign, and supporting multidisciplinary and integrated ways of working. We also focus on inclusive recruitment and training, staff wellbeing, retention, and reducing burnout. Alongside this, we examine how digital tools, service redesign, and better coordination across sectors can strengthen health and care systems for the future.
