My name is Jamie Hunter living in Southport, Merseyside, and I am a Public Contributor Champion for the NIHR ARC NWC Analogue2Digital Theme. The health research theme is about exploring effective ways in which Artificial Intelligence can potentially enable better health and social care in the future for residents living in England. It follows strongly the governments NHS 10-year health plan of potential moving from an analogue to a digitalised way of providing health and social care. In school my favourite subjects were Science mainly Biology and Physics as well as Computing and I currently hold a computing degree.
My passion for being involved in this theme is the hope that digitalised technology can help provide better health and social care for cancer patients wanting to be cared for at home like my Mum who sadly passed away at our family home in Liverpool, aged 62 years old. Also to provide better health and social care for people suffering with the health conditions known as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) which requires good care provided at home. My best friend Hazel, lives in Southport and has M.E., and we have been best friends for six years and hopefully for many more years to come.
I will end this short biography with an interesting fact about me, the computerised photo of me above is an Avatar that I created on the computer. The avatar has been used as an animated video that explained my life story of how and why I became a public health researcher. It has been featured in Liverpool University training modules to encourage the next generation of public health researchers to be involved in health research.
