Dr Yasemin Hirst


Senior Research Fellow, IMPaCT

Yasemin is a Senior Research Fellow with ARC NWC IMPaCT based at University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). She is a chartered Health Psychologist and a Behavioural Scientist with expertise in early diagnosis and prevention of cancer focusing on health inequalities. She has previously worked at Lancaster Medical School at Lancaster University (2022-2023) and the Research Department of Behavioural Science and Health (BSH) at University College London (UCL) (2015-2022). She is a mixed methods researcher with wider interests in harnessing technology in health research and optimise research recruitment and data sharing for the public benefit. She has been a principal investigator and a co-investigator on projects funded by Cancer Research UK and North West Cancer Research. She supervises postgraduate students and ARC NWC interns. She is currently working on projects that aim to improve the delivery of public health interventions to increase the uptake of bowel cancer screening in Lancashire among populations with unmet needs.
