Dr Andy Pennington
Improving Population Health Research Fellow
Dr Andy Pennington is a public health researcher who specialises in evidence synthesis and mobilisation. He has extensive experience of conducting reviews of theories, concepts, and empirical evidence, research methodological development, and health and wellbeing impact assessments of complex social determinants of health and wellbeing inequalities gained over 22 years at the University of Liverpool. He is a research fellow and the Knowledge Synthesis lead for the Health Inequalities Policy Research team (HIP-R) based in the Department of Public Health, Policy and systems – a World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Policy Research on the Social Determinants of Health Equity. He originally trained as a town and country planner before developing a broad range of research interests that include health inequalities, community wellbeing, urban health, and individual and community empowerment.
