Second Annual Liverpool Dementia and Ageing Research Forum draws hundreds to discuss dementia under lockdown

The event held on December 3rd had over 200 attendees registered, bringing a broad range of perspectives together from across the UK dementia community and beyond, with researchers representing organisations in North America and Africa present.

Hosted by ARC NWC, the day saw presentations delivered on a range of topics, from eye movement and dementia, frailty and ageing, and how COVID-19 has affected the lives of those with dementia and carers, to service providers including TIDE and The Brain Charity talking about their outstanding work around legal rights in dementia.

National radio station ‘Music for Dementia UK’ also joined, outlining the power of music and how it can be integrated into dementia care plans. Paul Marlow – a carer for his mother living with dementia – also delivered a powerful session on his experiences of caring for his mother during the pandemic. Read his powerful blog here.

Ten ARC NWC member organisations attended, including Merseycare, Liverpool John Moores University and North West Boroughs NHS Trust. The full conference is now available to view on our ARC NWC channel on YouTube.
