Emily scoops top prize for research poster
ARC NWC PhD student Emily Wharton was certainly plain sailing when she scooped the best poster prize at an event at the Merseyside Maritime Museum.
The Postgraduate Research Festival 2022 took place on 11th May 2022 in Maritime Museum, Albert Docks, Liverpool. It was organised by ARC NWC member Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) own faculty postgraduate representatives in collaboration with the Doctoral Academy. The festival provided a space for the postgraduate community to get together, share research with a wide audience and take part in a programme of activities related to the postgraduate experience.
Over 60 research posters were on display, featuring research from all disciplines and all programmes (MPhil, PhD, Prof Docs). The posters were displayed throughout the festival, and there was a dedicated poster session giving Emily a chance to speak to delegates about her research, “COVID-19 Pandemic: A stair fall pandemic in older adults?.”
After this people voted for their favourite poster in the ‘People’s Choice’ award which Emily won, winning £150.
Emily said: “This was an incredible event in many ways. It allowed you to dive out of your research bubble, challenge yourself in making your research accessible for everyone from all disciplines, and really see the life-changing impact that institutes like LJMU and ARC NWC are making. Feeling very lucky and privileged to be able to share my research and make an impact at an in-person event again.”
