Behaviour Breakthroughs for Health Professionals in new ARC NWC Workshop Series

Methodological Innovation, Development, Adaptation, and Support (MIDAS) theme at ARC NWC, has led on the creation of a behavioural change workshop series specifically tailored for health and care professionals in response to the ongoing challenges they face. The workshops aim to aid professionals in helping patients or clients lead healthier lives to prevent the onset or progression of disease, as well as to conduct behaviour change-related research.

Acknowledging the intricate interplay of various determinants, the workshops explore how contextual factors shape behaviour. From working conditions to financial constraints and support systems, participants gain a holistic understanding of the influences driving human action and how the complexities these influencers introduce when designing and delivering behaviour change interventions can be dealt with in practice and in research.

Dr Ujhelyi Gomez explained: “The workshops empower professionals to navigate the underlying determinants of behaviour shifting the sole focus from individual responsibility to a more holistic approach, in which the influence of the wider context is considered and thus can be addressed, fostering more inclusive support systems and mitigating health disparities.”

“We have meticulously crafted the series of workshops to unravel the complexities of behaviour change. Tailored for health and care professionals, these sessions offer a deep dive into the theories and practical applications underpinning behaviour modification.”

By bridging the gap between theory and practice, as well as research and practice, the workshops provide professionals with the tools to enhance the efficacy of interventions and research endeavours in the realm of behaviour science.
