Policing Dementia Knowledge

The ARC NWC’s Dementia Research Team held two Dementia Inequalities Game workshops with members of the Merseyside Police force at Crosby Police station.

Dr Clarissa Giebel, James Watson, Megan Polden, and Megan Readman set out the games and facilitated the workshops for 15 police officers.

It presented an opportunity for non-health professionals to engage with the game and see whether the concept improves knowledge about dementia and inequalities. The team provided a brief before the game and knowledge questionnaires to attendees afterwards. This is part of an ongoing evaluation of the impact of game play on dementia knowledge, and the team has multiple workshops lined up.

If your organisation wishes to host a Dementia Inequalities Game workshop for your staff, please contact Dr Giebel via arcnwc@liverpool.ac.uk .

We encourage organisations interested in a workshop to also order a game to continue running game play workshops for any new starters after the initial session. You can order the game, with all proceeds going to Charity, via this link: https://www.lewybody.org/product/dementia-inequalities-board-game-40-00-includes-p-p/
