Place based analysis of COVID 19 risk
Through a collaborative effort between ARC North West Coast and SPHR our analysis of COVID-19 vulnerability was the first analysis to highlight ethnic inequalities, pre-empting the results of the influential ONS reports. The analysis was widely disseminated among public health teams. As a result of this work, Ben Barr was invited to become a member of the Government’s SAGE Ethnicity Subgroup. This subgroup advises on COVID-19 risks and impacts for minority ethnic groups, this led to work with the SAGE subgroup to develop a framework for understanding ethnic inequalities in
COVID-19, which is now being applied to other infections.
