Telehealth during Covid-19, with a focus on health visiting

Bethany is currently recruiting for her final study as part of her PhD. This study is looking to speak to parents in the North of England to find out more about their experience of telephone and video calls with health visiting teams during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please take a look at the recruitment poster and video below to find out more. If you would like to find out more about Bethany’s PhD there is information below the video.

My name is Bethany and I am a Doctoral Fellow and Senior Research Associate at ARC NWC. I have an interest in the ‘people part’ of technology. I’m interested in people’s experiences of implementing and using technology for health and social care, as I want to understand how technology can be used to support services and the people who access them.

The title of my PhD is ‘Telehealth during Covid-19, with a focus on health visiting’. I’m based at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) and I am supported by a supervisory team, an Advisory Board and two ARC Public Advisors. Together, we are working to understand more about experiences of telehealth during the Covid-19 pandemic, with a particular focus on health visiting.

I have written a blog that you can access here about my journey to this project, coming from a research background with no prior knowledge of Heath Visiting https://ihv.org.uk/news-and-views/voices/my-research-journey-so-far/ .

I have also co-authored an editorial about the importance of Health Visiting and the support it needs Greater support, recognition, and research for health visiting post-pandemic | British Journal of General Practice (bjgp.org).

Learn more about the recruitment for this study on my poster here.

I am just starting the data collection phase of my PhD and completing my systematic review. I will keep updating this page with opportunities to be involved in the research and with the results of my studies.
