Ruth Ball

Administrator for Public Advisers

I work as the Administrator for Public Advisers within the ARCNWC (Applied Research Collaboration North West Coast. This initiative brings together universities, local authorities, NHS organisations and the public working together to research innovations and deliver projects that will improve public health, wellbeing and quality of care across Cheshire, Merseyside, South Cumbria and Lancashire. I joined ARCNWC in January 2020 and it’s my privilege and delight to work alongside our Public Advisers and support them in their work with the ARCNWC.

I’m a ‘born and bred scouser’; I spent 30 years exiled to the Midlands prior to my return ‘up north’ in 2015. Prior to joining the University of Liverpool I worked in higher education administration at the University Nottingham and more recently as a Headteacher’s PA and Clerk to Governors in a secondary school in Cheshire.

I live in Chester with my husband, Ken. I’m a mum, step-mum and a nana. I’ve also worked with voluntary organisations in youth and children’s work (both in the UK and abroad). I have a genuine interest in the opportunities for the younger generations whatever their background and wherever they may live.
