I have 24 years experience as a public contributor, working with NHS organisations, universities and the VCFSE sector to improve health and care services through lived experience. My work has focused on mental health, addiction and recovery, co-production, education, research, public engagement and service improvement.
I am passionate about ensuring research reflects the realities faced by patients, carers and the workforce, particularly around workforce wellbeing, stigma, addiction recovery, implementation and reducing health inequalities. I enjoy bridging the gap between lived experience, research and decision making so that evidence leads to meaningful change.
Previous involvement includes Lancashire Mental Health Partnership Board, Lancaster University’s Public Involvement Network (LUPIN), LCC Better Care Fund Board, NIHR research collaborations, Alcoholics Anonymous public information work, and partnerships with Lancashire Constabulary, the Ministry of Justice, professional sport, as well as working with the BBC and local media to raise awareness, reduce stigma and promote recovery.
