Liverpool Dementia & Ageing Research Forum May 2021

In our May Forum event on the 19th of May from 1-2 pm, during Dementia Awareness Week 2021, Dr Richard Foster from Liverpool John Moore’s University will be sharing and discussing his research into how your home can cause falls risks for older adults, and how we can adapt this.

Dr Rich Foster is a Senior Lecturer in Biomechanics and member of the Research to Improve Stair Climbing Safety (RISCS) group at Liverpool John Moores University.

In his talk, Rich will provide an overview of his work investigating falls and fall-risk in older people. Rich will share his work focused on how the appearance of the environment influences movement behaviour. Findings will be presented that show how visual markings can change the way we visually perceive features of the environment associated with fall-risk, such as steps, stairs and obstacles, and its associated effect on foot clearance. Findings will be discussed within the context of developing and providing population-level interventions to older people to reduce falls. As always, we will have a 15 minutes Q&A session where you can ask questions and Rich will answer these live.

We welcome everyone, and the event is free! Register HERE: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/liverpool-dementia-ageing-research-forum-may-2021-tickets-144630727399
